Recognized as one of Baton Rouge's Best Places to Work, J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management firm primarily supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, has an opening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a Piping Designer.
The Designer supports the Lead Designer in developing models in AutoDesk Plant 3D (P&ID, 3D models, Isometric & Orthos), plan/layout drawings, and bills of material. These activities will be in support of new capital industrial infrastructure projects such as central tank batteries, large central gathering stations, oil terminals, and saltwater disposals. The role and skill set is key in expanding JH’s services to the industry.
Primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Travel to the field to perform walkdowns in order to produce as-built designs. Job locations are generally within the Permian Basin.
- Responsible for rough routing models developed by more senior designers and “dress them out” based on the approved P&ID
- Isometric and orthogonal extraction from models
- 2D and 3D design
- Converting vendor models into 3D components for use in larger model
- Responsible for the development of model catalogs based on commonly used equipment.
- Learning and following the version control procedures.
- Checking 3D models for P&ID compliance.
- Adhere to required processes and embrace opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide feedback and support to our project teams from actual project experience.
- General project management when designing duties are not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Previous field experience
- Minimum of two years’ industry experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD and AutoDesk Plant 3D
- Able to read and understand pipe specifications sheets
- Strong background in oil & gas or petrochemical plants.
- Knowledge, API, ASME and ANSI standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with project team members and other staff.
- Ability to work unsupervised for short periods of time.
- Ability to pass an in-depth background check and drug screening.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Long hours may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
- Job will generally be performed at the office in Baton Rouge with frequent trips to the field to perform walk-downs.
- Travel time is expected to be 50%.
