Zoic is working on the VFX for an exciting Laika Studio stop-motion animated feature project that promises creativity, collaboration, and a fantastic chance to showcase your skills! Contracts will run through to mid/late 2025. (dates will vary depending upon the role)
Summary of Position
The Artist Manager is responsible for the management, career development, and recruitment of digital artists in varying skill sets within the company. The Artist Manger oversees the planning and scheduling for artists to ensure talent is appropriately utilized, as well as partnering with the technology and management team to identify talent to participate in ongoing software and R&D initiatives.
Job Functions
- Partners with Department Leadership; Production, HR, Recruitment, and IT to collaborate on the employee experience, artist career development goals and ongoing improvements and initiatives.
- Oversees day-to-day Artist support including but not limited to; support for new hire onboarding, IT equipment and software coordination, facilities space planning, flagging contract renewals/extensions as needed and assists in supporting performance feedback in collaboration with HR.
- Participate in planning with project team to create appropriate staffing and recruitment; ensure artist are effectively utilized to anticipate staffing changes and additional resources throughout the life of the project.
- Support recruitment coordination by reviewing incoming candidates, supporting resume/reel reviews with leadership; participating in interviews, collecting candidate feedback, and communicating action items on all candidates in the recruitment pipeline.
- Meet and Liaison with Production teams, supervisors, and artists regularly to ensure consistent communication.
- Participate in postmortems; ensure areas of improvement for artist management are identified and appropriate action items are assigned and delivered.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of department documentation.
- Promote positive and productive work environment and organize team social events; online and/or at the studio.
- Monitor timesheet tracking and gathering OT requests; obtaining approval from the project team.
- Support and work with the Supervisors, Production and HR for conflict management and resolution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of high-end production experience in television or feature films in managing a team
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, communications, film, art, or related field is a plus
- Strong leadership qualities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict
- Ability to foster relationships with internal stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Shotgun experience
Additional information
- British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $40 - $50 (The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position)
- Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
