The Opportunity 

As a Design Manager working in the Alternative Projects Centre of Expertise (APEX) team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role driving collaboration as it relates to complex project designs. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to provide guidance, port and assistance to ensure collaboration with our Project Managers and support consultants from concept through to construction.

What You Will Do

  • Utilize your technical magic when it comes to reviewing blueprints, ensuring our designs align with ‘’DND’’ specs and government guidelines.
  • Own the custom craftmanship of our plans, ensuring they are tailor-made for our clients and consider cost-effective alternatives and optimized designs.
  • You’re an innovative Architect at heart, developing innovative designs for each project that blends elegance with efficiency.
  • Proposal support? No problem! Act as a key member of the proposals team and collaborating with stakeholders to create customized and creative proposals to each specific job requirement.
  • Keep a keen eye on professional firms involved on each project. Are they living up to Pomerleau’s expectation of excellence as it relates to quality, schedule and costs?
  • Navigate the full project lifecycle. From planning to execution, you’ll be our guide in all stages of design management.

What YOU Will Bring

  • An educational background in Architecture, Engineering or other related field.
  • Previous experience when it comes to government projects and DND building designs projects.
  • An expertise when it comes to designing Public- Private Partnership (PPP) projects and Design Build.
  • A knack for working with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design Construction (VDC) modelling.
  • 7+ years of experience managing workflows and processes specific to government and DND architectural/engineering projects.
  • In ensuring compliance with the project requirements and regulations, the successful candidate must be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level Security clearance.

Additional Assets Include:

  • Fluent in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
  • Master's degree or architectural licensure is strongly preferred.
The expected salary range for this opportunity is $105,000 - $146,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program which is listed above. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
