Yonkers Contracting is seeking a full time Civil Roadway Design Technician to join our Bronx River Parkway project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Lay out horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for road widening projects
  • Model and design roadway improvement projects using AutoCAD
  • Use 3D visualization software for client and public communication presentations
  • Develop plan sheets and compile project packages for project submission
  • Complete roadway and drainage calculations utilizing software and reference material
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
  • Research and download available GIS open-source data
  • Complete field observations and data collection for office use and project discussion
  • Learn new technology to advance own skill set and group knowledge
  • Attend project meetings with clients

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Technical Degree or B.A. in Civil Engineering
  • Ideal candidates: Min 5 years' experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design
  • Experience with full range of civil engineering design work including problem analysis, design layout, calculations, specifications writing, and report writing on projects of substantial variety and complexity.
  • AutoCAD proficiency and Microsoft suite required

Physical Demands/Working Conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Work in varying weather and temperatures
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination needed to use a variety of office equipment such as computer, telephones, calculators, copiers, and drafting equipment
  • Visual acuity to perform drafting, review plans, and perform other essential functions of the job
  • Occasionally walk on uneven terrain and/or across bridges
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours a week and/or work irregular hours
