As a Senior Product Designer at For People, you will play a critical role in modernizing the Medicaid Drug Program (MDP) product suite for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). MDP is vital for improving access to affordable medications for millions of Medicaid beneficiaries. Your work will empower CMS to better negotiate drug prices, increase compliance, and promote transparency, directly impacting how low-income individuals and families access affordable medications.In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that meet the needs of diverse users such as state officials, drug manufacturers, and CMS administrators. You will bring your design expertise, creativity, and empathy to create solutions that align user needs with business goals, ultimately improving the efficiency and usability of the MDP platform. On the MDP project, you will work closely with product, engineering, and research teams to:Lead the design of user-centered interfaces for complex data systems with multiple user roles, improving usability, accessibility, and overall user experienceTranslate user research and feedback into thoughtful, modern designs that address user needs and align with business and policy objectivesCollaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure design feasibility, scalability, and seamless integration of new features into the MDP systemBuild and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that reflect stakeholder requirements and CMS regulationsConduct usability testing and synthesize findings into actionable design improvements, ensuring product enhancements are data-driven and informed by real-world user feedbackFoster a collaborative design process by facilitating design workshops, journey mapping, and working sessions to align cross-functional teams on user experience goalsEnsure consistency across the platform by developing and maintaining design systems that align with CMS and government standardsWork with the research team to ensure that designs are informed by both quantitative data and qualitative insights, and that they contribute to long-term product vision and strategyAdvocate for accessibility and usability best practices, ensuring that designs meet federal accessibility requirements and serve the diverse population of usersYou Bring
A humble and caring attitude5+ years of experience in product design for complex, large-scale digital products or services, preferably in the government sector or regulated industriesProven expertise in designing for systems with multiple user roles, translating complex workflows into intuitive, user-friendly interfacesStrong proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, Figjam, and other collaborative design platformsDeep understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, information architecture, and responsive designExperience in usability testing and working with user researchers to validate design decisions and refine solutions based on user feedbackExcellent communication skills to convey design rationale to diverse stakeholders, including technical and non-technical teamsCollaborative mindset and experience working in agile teams alongside product managers, engineers, and UX researchersFamiliarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience in designing inclusive experiences for diverse populationsExperience developing and maintaining design systems that promote consistency and scalability across large digital platformsThe ability to balance user needs with business objectives, ensuring that designs are both effective and feasible within constraintsAdditional Details
