Current Need:
McKesson Strategic Pricing and Manufacturer Relations (SPMR) is seeking a dynamic and strategic-minded Lead Marketing Strategist, US Pharmaceutical Value Chain to join our team at our headquarters in Irving, TX. This position is a key role within our high-growth team which oversees a distribution contract portfolio of over $250 billion in Gross Sales and manages relationships with over 400 biopharma partners with pharma product categories covering Brand, Specialty, Biosimilars, Plasma, Vaccines, Rare/Orphan, and Cell and Gene and Advanced Therapies.
The team’s position within McKesson provides a unique opportunity to have a 360 view of the pharmaceutical industry focused on Pharma Distribution, Strategic Pricing, Strategic Innovation and Policy. As the Director of Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic marketing and communications efforts across the SPMR team.
The Lead Marketing Strategist is responsible for developing the overall SPMR value narrative and building and executing the marketing strategy to ensure it reaches our biopharma partners and other external stakeholders. Your activities are organized around driving strategic, executive-level content and communications that position McKesson as an industry thought leader and partner of choice for our biopharma partners.
You serve as a trusted marketing advisor to SPMR senior leaders by effectively telling the story of our industry and its continued evolution, McKesson’s purpose, and approach to solving challenges that industry shifts present and what we do to deliver value through our offerings. Your ability to keep up to date with industry news and trends will ensure our messaging remains current and aligned with the evolving landscape.

You lead the narrative that demonstrates the value McKesson offers our biopharma partners.
This leadership position reports to the Sr. Director, SPMR- Organizational & Stakeholder Engagement.
Ideal candidate will reside within a commutable distance to our corporate headquarters in Irving, TX. This is a hybrid role that will require at least one day per week onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communication Strategy: Responsible for the comprehensive positioning and value proposition of SPMR’s solutions and services to external stakeholders with a focus on accelerating growth and retention.
Oversee our thought leadership strategy inclusive of executive podium presentations at industry events and earned and paid media opportunities to ensure McKesson is consistently positioned as industry experts and that a clear story is told about the value we drive for our customers.
Utilize market trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning to develop differentiated positioning of our solutions and services.
Develop and execute a comprehensive press release strategy to effectively communicate key messages, product launches, and company updates to external stakeholders.
Create and manage a promotional campaign plan utilizing earned and paid media, and social media channels to amplify our messaging and reach our target audience.
Measure and evaluate the success of marketing initiatives and use data to inform and adjust our strategy to both reflect the evolving industry landscape and maintain our position as a trusted source of information and expertise and optimize engagement and results.
Collaborate with other marketing teams within McKesson to identify synergies and promote our value proposition and solutions, adopting marketing best practices.
Expand reach to our key stakeholders by supporting SPMR’s engagement with respected industry organizations (SPMR’s senior leaders board and membership positions, industry awards submissions, etc.).
Oversee SPMR industry sponsorships by managing budget, selection criteria, messaging, and fulfillment.
Content Creation: Possess a deep understanding of SPMR’s solutions and services to effectively differentiate and position them in the market.
Create visual content in various formats, such as PowerPoint presentations, infographics, or supporting videos, to visually represent our narrative and engage our external audience.
Craft compelling narratives for external industry events, showcasing thought leadership in healthcare strategic innovation, policy, product strategy, distribution services, and cell, gene & advanced therapies.
Regularly interacts with senior management on content concerning the healthcare ecosystem, pharma distribution, strategic pricing, and Policy.
Collaborate across McKesson and with SPMR cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, to gather necessary information and insights to support a differentiated narrative backed by compelling proof points.
Minimum Requirements: Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of experience in marketing, communications, product management, and/or brand management. Less years required if has relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
Critical Skills: 4+ years of leadership experience highly preferred.
Experience in the biopharma or healthcare industry is highly desirable.
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to use numbers, data, and visual content to tell a story, influence decision makers, and explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences.
Proficient in visual content creation using tools such as PowerPoint, Adobe, Photoshop, and infographics.
Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including the mechanics, economics, policy issues, stakeholder influences, and impacts across the value chain.
Experience working with senior executives and overseeing podium presentations.
Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills used effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels in a matrixed environment.
Demonstrated success in establishing, developing, and maintaining business relationships.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute brand and customer marketing strategies to include innovative approaches and digital engagement.
Experience developing and executing earned media, paid media, social media, and press release strategies.
Strong knowledge of marketing principles and utilizing market research insights to effectively translate market trends and customer needs into actionable resources and tactics.
Creativity, innovation, high standards, and attention to detail.
Strong self-starter mentality, with the ability to proactively generate ideas and drive efforts.
Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful marketing and communications strategies that have effectively engaged stakeholders and promoted a value proposition.

Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
