TITLE:

Senior Marketing Manager, Education Resources

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Director, Marketing

BASIC FUNCTION:

Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing and promotional initiatives and brand strategies for American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) education courses and resources to ensure consistency with messaging and the attainment of all established financial and education program goals. Manage all marketing and promotional efforts for attendee acquisition for the AAP National Conference.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead and manage the development of performance markers to ensure attainment of goals.

2. Develop, manage, and implement marketing and promotional strategies for attendee acquisition for the National Conference, to achieve budgeted registration and program goals.

3. Direct the development and implementation of marketing and promotional - brand strategies for the PREP Program, live/digital meetings, and online courses to achieve budgeted sales and program goals.

4. Develop and direct the execution of annual plans outlining frequency and sequence of marketing efforts. Manage and adhere to marketing budgets and conduct ROI reviews of marketing programs.

5. Participate in the development of integrated pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing margin and market share. Evaluate customer needs, buying behavior, market trends, and competition in review of pricing structure.

6. Oversee the implementation of strategic marketing plans for the AAP Learning Management System (LMS) as required.

7. Develop and oversee the development and management of annual budget recommendations for promotional activities for assigned products in collaboration with Director, Marketing. Monitor budgets, report on variances and forecasting, and make recommendations for budget adjustments as needed.

8. Ensure collaboration between marketing and relevant AAP staff to maximize marketability and product positioning.

9. Analyze costs of promotional efforts choosing cost-effective methods to maximize results. Monitor marketing calendar to ensure deadlines for core acquisition activities are met.

10. Prepare, create, and monitor event information for NCE registration on shopAAP. Coordinate and update pricing and registration information as required.

11. Manage the documentation and communication of product positioning, messaging, and value across assigned events and courses to management and target audience for assigned products.

12. Provide marketing promotion consultation to AAP staff who are developing and implementing non-CME live/digital events.

13. Evaluate communications and promotional materials from other organizations to identify best practices and benchmark live/digital CME and National Conference activities.

14. Prepare ongoing updates of assigned product line performance and promotional activities and provide an analysis of results for management team.

15. Supervise and mentor assigned staff. Encourage a work environment that promotes inclusion and belonging of all staff. Support ongoing staff development, help set objectives, and evaluate performance, and promote and enhance staff capacity in skills necessary to achieve goals. Ensure staff operate in a fiscally prudent manner, maintain confidentiality, operate with the highest ethical standards, and provide excellent service to members and volunteers.

16. Participate in cross team and department marketing activities to promote collaboration and identify opportunities for cross promotion.

17. Update and maintain standard operating procedures as required.

18. Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least five years' related integrated marketing experience required, including developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic digital and traditional marketing plans; copywriting; creative direction; and budget development/management and forecasting. Experience managing budgets and supervising staff or serving as a team lead required. Experience marketing education-related products and working in a medical association preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Excellent project management, organization, verbal/written communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, diplomacy, and leadership skills required. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, HTML, web site maintenance/document collaboration platforms (eg, SharePoint), electronic survey tools (Zoomerang), budgeting software (eg, Acumatica), and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work within established budgets, think creatively, work both independently and as a team, take initiative, pay close attention to detail, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and maintain and promote a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Travel and evening/weekend work required.

Hybrid work environment of 40% of work time in the office per month.
