Cooley is seeking a Practice Group Marketing Manager to join the Marketing team.
Position summary:
The Practice Group Marketing Manager is responsible for market analyses, client development and strategic business planning for their assigned market. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Position responsibilities: Market analyses and client development Conduct market analyses determining our private companies market share and opportunities within the market Present the firm's competitive positioning in the market by conducting research and analysis about our competitors inclusive of lateral activity, thought leadership, events, news/experience and league tables Conduct business intelligence analysis and become well educated on regional clients and prospective clients by analyzing financial, experience, marketing client engagement and competitor representation data Serve as the marketing subject matter expert for the market Client targeting and new business development Establish a replicable approach to targeting new business for the private companies practice, inclusive of working with our competitive intelligence team on setting criteria, providing research, analyzing data and relationships, and recommending targets and then project managing next steps with involved lawyers, and reporting on results Develop and execute cross-selling strategies, including collaborating with relevant global practice or regional marketing and business development teams in other regions For opportunities coming from regional targeting initiatives and client expansion programs, advise lawyers on new business opportunities, and providing support on the development of our approach, team, proposition, and supporting materials (i.e., credentials, targeted events, etc.) Strategic business planning and reporting Consult with the regional corporate leaders, the partners in charge, the regional litigation leadership, and colleagues in marketing & BD to develop and implement strategic plans and marketing budgets that coordinate with global practice group goals and objectives, setting long and short-term goals for the market Proactively manage implementation and execution of strategic plans with the regional corporate leaders, the partners in charge and regional litigation leadership, including responsibility for periodic meetings, reports, analysis, and progress monitoring Profile raising, marketing campaigns and events Work with regional business development team members to identify and develop strong relationships with associations and industry organizations that attract and engage prospective clients, influencers, and referral sources in support of business plan goals Develop event strategy for the market based on market and competitive analyses and in support of business plan goals Provide support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events in the market Track, measure, analyze, and report on the success of activities with key stakeholders Collaborate with PR team to advance the profile-raising efforts in the market Partner with marketing colleagues to facilitate the completion of regional surveys, specific lawyer and practice awards and accolades Support integration of lateral lawyers into general corporate or ECVC practices within the market Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, industry conferences, programs, appearances, and other market engagement opportunities, and ensure maximum ROI and appropriate coverage from lawyers and BD professionals Coordinate closely with global practice group marketing colleagues to understand additional planned activity in assigned market, and to maximize collaboration and ROI on all activities All other duties as assigned or required Skills and experience: Required: Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required Ability to travel, as required 5+ years marketing-related experience Preferred: Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field Experience working in a law firm or other professional services organization Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed work environment Competencies: Strong project management skills and follow-through ability Demonstrate great initiative and the ability to work independently Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside of the firm Team oriented with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills Keen ability to capture, distill and accurately describe the legal expertise and value of the firm, its practices, and individual attorneys Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE. The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $115,000 - $170,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
