Job Description : In this role, you will be responsible for managing the public relations and information program, with a focus on modernizing our elections software and hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, public relations, and journalism, along with a passion for engaging with the public and media. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations and information strategy to promote the modernization of election software and hardware. Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, and informational materials to inform the public and media about the project's progress and milestones. Create and maintain a strong social media presence to engage with the public and promote transparency and awareness of the modernization efforts. Establish and maintain positive relationships with officials, media representatives, and the public. Respond to inquiries and direct questions from the media and public in a timely and professional manner. Plan and coordinate press conferences, media events, and other public relations activities related to the project. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public opinion to inform public relations strategies and tactics. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the project during crisis or emergency situations, ensuring clear and consistent communication with the public and media. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the successful execution of public relations and information initiatives. Manage the public communications portion of the departmental crisis disaster response plan.
Requirements: At least three years of professional experience in administering or directing a public information program, including media relations, content creation, and public speaking. Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications, or a related field is a plus. Experience in crisis communications and emergency management. Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging and accurate content for various audiences. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and content management systems. Knowledge of public relations principles and practices, as well as the ability to develop and implement strategic plans. Experience in managing a public relations team, including the ability to delegate tasks and provide guidance and support. Familiarity with election processes is a plus.
