Job descriptionThe teamWe are a rapidly-growing, fast-moving, highly-capable User Experience Design & Research team of Alibaba global B2B e-commerce. Our team is a diverse, talented, collaborative group of designers, content strategists, and user researchers dedicated to designing a world-class B2B e-commerce platform, Alibaba.com, for our global business customers. We work closely with product and business teams across the world to better serve our customers throughout North America, Europe, South East Asia, etc. Alibaba.com was the first business of Alibaba.com since 1999.
ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for creating, driving, and implementing a research plan to discover actionable insights for creating the user experience for web-based applications and mobile devices. The research will be agile, keeping pace with the rapid innovation in the team. You will be working closely with our local design and research teams as well as our global product and business teams.
You have a deep understanding of the methods and best practices of user research. You are capable of leading the team to deliver high-quality outputs while working effectively on managing stakeholders, overlapping projects, and competing priorities.
• Independently identify and prioritize research questions based on business needs, project goals, and risks• Independently design and execute research studies with effective research methods (e.g., desk research, interviews, focus groups, usability testing, surveys, competitive analysis, etc.), representable participant profiles, and efficient recruiting strategy• Proactively review and perform data analysis to extract insights and actionable recommendations from qualitative or quantitative data and collaborate with teams to translate insights to product and business impact• Proactively review and perform market research and analytics to generate market strategies, market trends, segmentation, competitive intelligence, and investment prioritization.• Effectively lead and engage research team members and collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers throughout the research, design, and product development processes• Effectively build, contribute, and cultivate team culture, vision, and impact• Excellent strategic, analytical, and communication skills to effectively represent the voice of the user throughout the product development process
Job requirement• 5+ years of industry (hands-on) working experience conducting research as a business analyst, market researcher, UX Researcher, or equivalent professional experience required• 3+ years of industry (hands-on) working experience managing projects and cross-functional teams• Master’s degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), experimental psychology, cognitive science, anthropology, information science, business, Economics, or related discipline• Working knowledge of utilizing various research methodologies with a deep understanding of the pros and cons of each• Proficiency in behavioral analysis, qualitative analysis, and quantitative analysis (statistics, statistical modeling, data interpretation, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications• Experience with e-commerce businesses• Experience with supporting complex system (e.g., enterprise product) design, studying SMB and mid-Enterprise segments as well as vertical markets• Experience with analyzing log data for user behaviors• Experience with business analysis, industry analysis, investment analysis, or supply chains analysis• Fluent in English, and Chinese (Mandarin) will be highly desirable• A portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
