This position is located in Washington, DC, it is NOT a remote role Company Description NOPA is a national trade association based in Washington, DC, representing the U.S. soybean, canola, flaxseed, safflower seed, and sunflower seed crushing industries. NOPA's member companies crush 97% of all soybeans processed in the U.S. annually to meet food, feed, and fuel demands, with a significant economic impact on the U.S. economy. Intern will have direct access to the President and CEO as well as senior level government and regulatory professionals in an unparalleled opportunity to assist in policy, strategy, content development, advocacy outreach , and some administrative matters, to gain a deeper understanding of the ins and outs of how a national trade association operates and influences outcomes in federal policy initiatives. Role Description This is a part-time on-site role for a Policy and Communications Intern at NOPA in Washington, DC. The intern will be responsible for tasks related to legislative and regulatory policy and communications work. Qualifications Strong communication and writing skills Experience in creating press releases and internal communications Review legislative and regulatory documents and provides succinct summaries. Assist NOPA Staff in tracking and reporting on federal, state, and local legislation and regulations. Conduct research on topics as assigned, prepare summary reports, support development of white papers, guidance documents and other NOPA documents Develop social media content Ability to develop strategic communications Knowledge of policy and advocacy is a plus Excellent research and analytical skills Extremely organized, detail oriented, ability to hit deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation; ability to communicate effectively; courteously and professionally with a variety of individuals at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, organizational, problem-solving skills. Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, in both oral and written communications Advanced proficiency with office technology knowledge, esp. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Forms, PowerPoint, Teams, et. al.), and online media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, WordPress, Constant Contact) Compensation NOPA will provide an hourly wage of $20 per hour as well as metro reimbursement.
