HUNTER is looking for a Vice President of Earned Media Strategy Outreach to join and manage a growing team within the Media Department. This role is based in L.A. HUNTER’s Media Department provides counsel and collaborative media-focused support to all internal agency account teams and clients. This role supports internal account teams in the planning and execution of earned media strategies across the agency’s Fortune 500 clients in the following verticals: food beverage, wine spirits, home lifestyle, health beauty, retail ecommerce, travel, and tech. The right candidate should have a strong background in generating earned media placements by developing media strategies, securing print and online placements across lifestyle/consumer/entertainment outlets, and deep understanding of the media landscape and relevant industry trends. Strong knowledge within the sports industry is a major plus. They should also have extensive experience managing celebrity/spokesperson media days. The ideal candidate will also be a natural storyteller with superb written and oral communication skills. They should be a resourceful problem solver who keeps projects and work streams on track. Additionally, the candidate should be a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and is eager to build and lead a team. Qualifications Required: B.A. in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or the like Ten (10) years of public relations agency experience with a strong focus on earned media outreach and media strategy development Three (3) or more years in a supervisory role Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience and understanding of media databases and monitoring tools including Meltwater, Muckrack and Critical Mention Job Responsibilities Requirements include: Leadership Media Landscape Expertise Participate and counsel on the media strategy development and story narrative for proactive and reactive media outreach for HUNTER’s array of clients. Have a strong understanding of the overall media landscape and relevant media/marketing trends. Provide strategic counsel and offer thoughtful, insightful recommendations to colleagues, teammates, and clients based on expertise, media audits and research. Ability to connect the dots of media insights, audiences’ insight, comms/marketing strategies into editorial content that resonates. Understand the media ecosystem and ensure campaign strategies will authentically reach desired media and consumers. Create efficient processes and ways of working to bring proficiency and thoroughness to all work. Manage and mentor a direct report(s), identify growth opportunities and provide constructive feedback on areas of opportunity. Media Relations Work alongside account teams on developing comprehensive media strategies, processes, and communication. Play an integral role in the process of executing proactive media outreach and securing coverage for clients (inclusive of planning, implementing, pitching, recapping, etc.) across general markets. Book talent for media days and execute media relations for talent-driven PR campaigns. Demonstrate superb interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate approvals diplomatically and maintain composure and quality in a fast-paced environment. Write, edit, quality check and provide feedback on all media materials including media lists, media pitches, key messages, segment outlines, media audits, research, briefing books, etc. Build a strong network with key editors, producers, and journalists across consumer/lifestyle/entertainment/sports media. Travel to client and event locations; join teams in meeting with their clients at their office locations/headquarters when asked. In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, the Company believes the target range of base compensation for this role is $130K - 150K. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
