We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Copy Editor to join our team. This position will focus on reviewing and revising content for publication to ensure it aligns with editorial standards and client expectations.

General Duties:

• Content Planning and Review:

o Plan, review, and revise content for publication on a regular basis, ensuring it aligns with the editorial policy and client’s style guide.

o Proofread text for spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors, checking for readability and style, and ensuring adherence to editorial guidelines.

o Suggest revisions to improve clarity, accuracy, and overall quality of content.

• Content Development and Collaboration:

o Develop story and content ideas in collaboration with writers, adhering to the client’s style and editorial policy.

o Work with writers to make content more accessible and understandable for the target audience.

• Quality Control and Final Approvals:

o Perform Quality Control (QC) checks on text and ensure final versions meet high-quality standards before submission to the client.

o Approve final drafts, ensuring that all content is polished, error-free, and ready for publication.

• Research and Fact-Checking:

o Conduct research, verify facts, dates, statistics, and sources cited in content to ensure accuracy and credibility.

o Confirm sources and check for consistency across materials to avoid misinformation and errors.

• Layout and Design Suggestions:

o Suggest improvements in the arrangement of page layouts, articles, photographs, and advertising materials, ensuring visual alignment with the content's message and the client's brand.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

• Professional Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of copy-editing experience, with a proven ability to review and revise content to meet high standards.

• Skills and Abilities:

o Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors in grammar, punctuation, and style.

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with writers and other team members.

o Familiarity with content management systems and editing software.

o Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and other relevant editing software; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign) is a plus.
