That work can be seen across a range of digital and social channels, including our Emmy Award–winning films; our Webby Award–winning digital channels; key programs like NYC Restaurant Week®; and through partnerships with leading tourism and hospitality organizations at home and worldwide. We champion collaboration and are looking for a like-minded Social Media Manager to join our team, reporting to the Senior Social Media Director.

In pursuit of that goal, we are committed more than ever to featuring diverse voices in our channels who speak to NYC’s many cultures and make the five boroughs the world’s most dynamic and welcoming travel destination.
We are seeking a creative, organized and resourceful Social Media Manager based in New York City with strong external and internal communication skills for a full-time position to help us produce social content aligned with the above mission and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a content calendar to promote major NYC events, holidays, and NYC Tourism + Conventions’ various marketing pulses and key verticals, including NYC Restaurant Week and others
- Write strong and engaging copy that connects with a large and diverse audience
- Grow social followings, impressions and engagement within social platforms
- Conceptualize and design evergreen content
- Generate and brainstorm ideas with other internal teams
- Collaborate with the team to diversify our brand while increasing followership
- Ensure a diversity of ideas, perspectives, and voices
- Day-to-day posting
- Creation of static content to feed content calendar
- Create posting plans and static content to support the company’s marketing programs
- Track social performance stats and use them to analyze performance, then work with team to make strategy and tactic recommendations
- Build dashboards and reports for senior staff and stakeholders
YOU SHOULD:
- Be an effective communicator with the ability to build brand following and engagement
- Understand both traditional and digital media platforms and planning principles—including paid social, organic content, measurement, media/campaign evaluation, and brand health tracking
- Be able to lead and manage parallel projects/brand social platforms and work effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Be in tune with social trends and able to respond to those trends/memes to capitalize on opportunities
- Have the agility, flexibility, and positive attitude necessary to thrive on a fast-moving team and in a growing business
- Have deep knowledge of the overall creator landscape
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have 2+ years’ experience in social media and digital marketing
- Be based in NYC
- Have impeccable written and verbal communication skills—you’re going to contribute to the voice of New York City’s Official Guide and will largely be your own writer, editor, and copy editor
- Have solid news judgment, informed by a sincere desire to represent all of NYC in all its diversity—its people; its many communities, neighborhoods, and boroughs; and the sheer abundance of activities, interests, and industries that make NYC vibrant
- Understand NYC: you’ll be talking to both locals and visitors to the City, so you need to know the five boroughs well
- Have basic photo/video editing skills, including an eye for choosing imagery that helps represent the diversity and vibrancy of the City
- Be able to edit video on mobile/desktop apps such as VideoShop, InShot, CapCut, Adobe Premiere, etc.
- Have an understanding of social metrics: you’ll be using our analytics tools and native platform data to interpret the results of our posts, evaluate strategy and tactics, and adjust as needed
- Be familiar with SproutSocial, Buffer, Later, Canva, CrowdRiff, Adobe Creative Cloud a plus
- Have excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Maintain a positive mindset and the ability to remain calm under pressure
