We are seeking a freelance 2D animator/designer and video editor with 5+ years of experience in video editing and animation including after effects to contribute creative ideas and execute projects with professionalism. Experience in 3D animation is a valuable bonus. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter, driven by a passion for innovative storytelling and effective communication. Your expertise should extend beyond technical proficiency in software; you should also possess the ability to engage audiences in compelling ways.
The Freelance Video Editor/Animator should be a strong communicator and a team player who knows how to maintain a sense of humor and can laugh at themselves when appropriate. What you will be doing:
- Create, edit and assemble raw footage into polished video content
- Create and animate engaging motion graphics and visual effects
- Collaborate with the creative team to develop concepts, storyboards, and visual assets for videos and animations
- Ensure consistency in style, tone, and branding across all video projects
- Manage and organize video assets and project files to maintain efficient workflows
- Apply color grading, sound editing, and other post-production techniques to enhance video quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to editing software and video formats.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new techniques while always looking for ways to improve the brand's visual identity
- Receive and implement notes from stakeholders, team leads, and project partners.
- Quality check video deliverables to ensure all assets meet specifications, formats, compression requirements, and brand standards
- Support in-house video production as needed
- Work closely with client and internal teams to develop sophisticated and creative communications strategies-and be confident in shifting strategies to address emerging issues
- Proactively own a variety of projects and deliverables that achieve client goals while ensuring all client deadlines are met and quality of work is high
- Actively look for ways to grow existing client business
- Collaborate with internal client delivery teams, including content, digital, and creative, to improve offerings across accounts
- Support CLYDE initiatives
- Make recommendations on how to grow CLYDE beyond client work
- Adheres to firm's policies and procedures

- Contributes to CLYDE visibility efforts and seeks out external opportunities for personal visibility (contributed articles, speaking opportunities, etc.)

- Excellent verbal communicator in 1:1, small group, and large group presentations
- Show initiative in suggesting improvements and solving problems
- Expert in time and project management
- Provide meaningful constructive feedback to senior leadership
- Proven experience as a video editor and animator, with a strong portfolio showcasing video and motion graphic work.
- 5+ years of experience creating video that supports the brand narrative and product.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Proficiency in using Figma for storyboarding
- Solid understanding of video formats, compression, and export settings
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite tools, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task and act as a self-starter
- Impeccable organization abilities and experience creating post-systems
- Good camera/cinematography skills for shooting video when necessary are a bonus
- Experience in animation techniques such as keyframing, character animation, or kinetic typography
- Knowledge of 3D animation tools or software (Cinema 4D, Blender) are a bonus
- Full-scale animated video experience is a bonus
