JOB DESCRIPTION:
WE are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Communications Specialist for our client . In this role, you will be responsible for managing the public relations and information program for the with a focus on modernizing our elections software and hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, public relations, and journalism, along with a passion for engaging with the public and media.
Key Responsibilities:
· 1. Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations and information strategy to promote the modernization of software and hardware.
· 2. Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, and informational materials to inform the public and media about the project's progress and milestones.
· 3. Create and maintain a strong social media presence to engage with the public and promote transparency and awareness of the modernization efforts.
· 4. Establish and maintain positive relationships with state and local government officials, media representatives, and the public.
· 5. Respond to inquiries and direct questions from the media and public in a timely and professional manner.
· 6. Plan and coordinate press conferences, media events, and other public relations activities related to the project.
· 7. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public opinion to inform public relations strategies and tactics.
· 8. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the project during crisis or emergency situations, ensuring clear and consistent communication with the public and media.
· 9. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the successful execution of public relations and information initiatives.
· 10. Manage the public communications portion of the departmental crisis disaster response plan.
Requirements:
· 1. At least three years of professional experience in administering or directing a public information program, including media relations, content creation, and public speaking.
· 2. Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications, or a related field is a plus.
· 3. Experience in crisis communications and emergency management.
· 4. Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging and accurate content for various audiences.
· 5. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
· 6. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· 7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and content management systems.
· 8. Knowledge of public relations principles and practices, as well as the ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
· 9. Experience in managing a public relations team, including the ability to delegate tasks and provide guidance and support.
