UFP Site Built is the leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non-wood products for the construction industry. We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and light gauge steel structural components. We are currently hiring for an Entry Level Designers/Estimators. These positions could potentially office out of any of the 3 locations listed below and would be responsible for learning how to design roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels, and/or engineered wood products (EWP) for residential and commercial applications. Ideal candidates must be willing to train initially in Burlington, North Carolina for our January 2025 Design Trainee Class for 4-6 weeks (company will cover all costs - training is paid). Principle Duties and Responsibilities Prepare bids, layouts and engineered profiles using MiTek software
Design components as directed by management
Work with sales force to ensure that customers' requirements are met
Maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees
Assist in training and development of other designers (as required)
Work closely with retail clients, builders, framers and developers to answer design questions and offer design solutions
Grow and maintain strong customer relationships
Place orders within our productions system
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Drafting, CAD, construction, or framing background highly preferred
Complete the Technical Training Program and successfully pass an assessment test
Demonstrate the ability to read and understand blueprints
Demonstrate mathematical skills required to calculate concentrated and uniform loads
Working knowledge of floor and roof systems and the ability to spec out beams and hangers
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrate the ability to work independently manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meeting deadlines
Ability to sit at a desk for long amounts of time
Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
Good people skills with strong customer service attitude and proper phone etiquette
