UFP Site Built is the leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non-wood products for the construction industry. We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and light gauge steel structural components. We are currently hiring for an Entry Level Designers/Estimators. These positions could potentially office out of any of the 3 locations listed below and would be responsible for learning how to design roof trusses, floor trusses, wall panels, and/or engineered wood products (EWP) for residential and commercial applications. Burlington, North Carolina Jefferson, Georgia Locust, North Carolina Ideal candidates must be willing to train initially in Burlington, North Carolina for our January 2025 Design Trainee Class for 4-6 weeks (company will cover all costs - training is paid). Principle Duties and Responsibilities Prepare bids, layouts and engineered profiles using MiTek software Design components as directed by management Work with sales force to ensure that customers' requirements are met Maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees Assist in training and development of other designers (as required) Work closely with retail clients, builders, framers and developers to answer design questions and offer design solutions Grow and maintain strong customer relationships Place orders within our productions system Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Drafting, CAD, construction, or framing background highly preferred Complete the Technical Training Program and successfully pass an assessment test Demonstrate the ability to read and understand blueprints Demonstrate mathematical skills required to calculate concentrated and uniform loads Working knowledge of floor and roof systems and the ability to spec out beams and hangers Good analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrate the ability to work independently manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meeting deadlines Ability to sit at a desk for long amounts of time Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking Good people skills with strong customer service attitude and proper phone etiquette Benefits currently offered to our employees Medical insurance Health savings account with company contribution Dental insurance Vision insurance Basic and voluntary life insurance Disability insurance 401(k) plan with company match Paid vacation and holidays Stock purchase program with employee discount Educational reimbursement Wellness programs and challenges Other supplemental benefits The Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
