Description Visit California is seeking a Graphic Design student assistant to be responsible for providing design development and content production for projects within the Communications Department. The candidates should have excellent design, organization, written communications skills and a passion for producing high quality materials that provide value and drive high impact within the travel industry. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and an interest of making connections between design and content. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list. Majors/Fields of Study Communication Studies, Graphic Design Work Schedule Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer). Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following qualifications: Intermediate level proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro) and all Microsoft Office products. Demonstrated proficiency of digital asset management systems, database storage systems, content management systems, archiving and metadata. Fluency in email and web production software. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to manage multiple demands of varying completely and meet multiple deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Proven ability to take direction (via in-person or creative briefs) and complete assignments on-time, as well as an initiative to follow through and complete assignments independently. Strong organizational skills. Experience using Macintosh operating systems. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with: Video editing. Copy editing. Pre- and post-press print production. Knowledge of Basic HTML and CSS. Duties and Responsibilities Conceptualize and execute design materials for a wide range print and digital projects of various sizes (large and small). Creation and manipulation of presentation slides via PowerPoint for board meetings, annual conferences, executive speaking engagements and global events. Assist in production of visual content for websites, email newsletters, social media and print materials. Support pre- and post-press production responsibilities for all print materials. Functions many include, but are not limited to: Mailing list compiling. Direct communication and coordination with print vendor(s) and in-person press checks. Distribution and coordination of print materials to events and internal department leads. Research latest design trends (print and digital) for potential implementation into Visit California collateral or events. Support in maintaining the digital asset management system (WebDAM) including uploading new assets, continued keyword cleanup and ensuring all required copyright information is included for incoming assets. Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned by Creative Development Manager. Other duties as assigned . Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
