Position Summary We are searching for a mission-driven mechanical engineering leader to join our thermal battery engineering team to deliver zero-carbon industrial heat and power with our solid state thermal battery. You will lead our mechanical engineering design team to scope, define, design, model, prototype, validate, and iterate the design of Antora’s thermal battery products. Your work will directly impact removal of more than 30% of the world's carbon emissions produced by heavy industry. Manage and lead a team of hardware engineers and CAD designers responsible for the design and performance of Antora’s thermal battery. Lead and support team growth by hiring an awesome team. Allocate people resources to support multiple design projects based on priorities. Support team members as they take on hardware development for subsystems and components from basic architecture evaluations through conceptual, analysis, detailed design, prototype, test, and manufacturing release phases. Lead and/or support key initiatives such as cost-down, reliability, root-cause analysis, testing, etc. Mentoring (technical and non-technical) of more junior team members. Help set and maintain a strong and healthy team culture. Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, 10+ years relevant experience (power generation, aerospace, propulsion, etc.). Experience directly managing a technical team through product development cycles focused on cost reduction, manufacturability, and production scale-up in a startup environment. Strong experience with CAD and best practices for engineering drawings (GD&T, ASME Y14.5). Professional experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software, e.g. ANSYS. Experience developing and delivering hardware products as the responsible mechanical design engineer. Demonstrated proficiency in designing for common manufacturing processes like welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, etc for low-mid volume production. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional Qualifications Desired Ability to evaluate systems level architectural decisions to inform key trade-offs.
