As a Vice President Lead Designer focused in Design Systems for Consumer Bank, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience across our products and services. Leveraging your deep knowledge of design and research practices to lead strategically important initiatives and develop innovative solutions that align with business requirements and user needs. As a subject matter expert, collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide, and mentor junior designers, and foster a culture of inclusivity and accessibility. Your expertise in experience strategy and inclusive design will ensure that our offerings are not only visually appealing but also accessible and user-friendly, enhancing the overall customer experience.
You'll be responsible for building and managing a team of designers focused on maintaining our catalog of design fundamentals, components, patterns, and layout templates. You'll work closely with designers, engineers, product leaders and the other design system leads to craft a collection of assets and guidance that is responsive to the needs of the product design teams while still focused on delivering a consistent employee and customer experiences. In this lead role, you'll be expected to interface directly with product designers, engineers and product owners to understand product needs to grow the design system and on occasion defend design system decisions and the guidance it provides with strong and convincing rationale and logic. You can expect to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team that includes researchers, content writers, product managers, engineers, and business partners who share your passion for delivering unique and innovative financial digital products and services of all kinds, including trading and advice platforms.
Job responsibilities
Be a leader in the definition and curation of shared design and experiences across all our digital products
Plan and oversee the work of members of your team
Contribute to high performing teams through the development of self and others, emphasizing continuous learning and growth
Prioritize work based on needs, impact, and available resources
Understand and communicate macro business objectives and how they apply to your team's work
Partner with designers, developers, and product owners to apply and evolve our design system
Develop thinking through wireframes, visual studies, motion studies, prototypes
Present and communicate work and recommendations to the larger design organization
Ensure our design patterns maintain the highest of quality standards
Build relationships with other design leads and key stakeholders to drive adoption of our design system
Identify opportunities to increase the consistency of our customer and employee experience
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Bachelor's degree in relevant field, plus 5 or more years of design experience
Ability to synthesize complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing needs
Excellent time management skills and the ability to be self-directed
Must be capable of independent decision-making to achieve a shared team goal
Ability to work closely with other disciplines to understand design context
Ability to deliver solutions (research findings, design concepts, content) and participate in critique process to improve design acceptance
Understand the technical limitations and liberties behind your decisions and be able to communicate your ideas to product and technology partners
Be adept in the design of both web and mobile experiences
Possess critical thinking through iteration and design review
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Design leadership or managerial experience
Experience with Figma and Salesforce Lightning Design System
Experience building relationships with other design leads and key stakeholders
Prior work on design system strongly preferred
