The Visual Communications Specialist serves as the gatekeeper for MMR’s brand across the company, including all divisions, district offices and subsidiary brands. This position will conceptualize and develop all design-related needs for the department, with a primary focus on graphic design. Photography and videography skills would be useful in this role to capture the essence of the MMR brand through our project work, on-campus events and more. This full-time position will be located at the company’s headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA and will report to the Marketing Director.

What You’ll Do Every Day:
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Organize all stages of design projects to meet predetermined timelines and clearly communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed on project status
  • Design and produce high-quality creative, including brochures, print advertisements, presentations, digital graphics, website visuals, and other marketing collateral to engage MMR’s internal and external stakeholders
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive repository of all campaign assets with an easy-to-understand organizational structure
  • Ensure all design efforts across the company and subsidiaries adhere to brand guidelines to promote a cohesive look and feel
  • Create and maintain brand guidelines and standards that clearly outlines how MMR’s brand should be displayed across all channels
  • Develop a design template library in a tool like Canva so team members can easily create marketing collateral for presentations, project profiles, emails, etc.
  • Serve as the design expert on the marketing team with the ability to conceptualize ideas and then bring them to life via visual storytelling
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed to capture events
What We’re Looking For:
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Communications or related field is preferred. A strong portfolio showcasing past design and production work is required. Please be prepared to share examples of your work when applying.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in design and visual communications is required.
  • Required Skills:
    • A solid understanding of design principles, visual composition and typography
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
    • Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
    • Experience building and maintaining a consistent visual brand identity across all channels
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Proficiency in operating cameras, video cameras, lighting and sound equipment strongly preferred
    • Experience in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and motion graphics tools (e.g., After Effects)
