Position Overview
The Senior AV Design Engineer is a crucial member of the project team, possessing extensive knowledge in architectural, facility, and systems design, as well as the project management process within the net-centric audiovisual industry. This role is primarily responsible for conducting needs analysis, project design, planning, estimating, engineering, and client consultation. Additionally, the Senior AV Design Engineer provides sales support by creating proposals, drawings, and requirement documentation, bridging the design and construction teams. Success in this position requires confidence, professionalism, accuracy, and strong presentation, communication, interpersonal, and mentorship skills.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in technology or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred
- 8+ years of experience in design and engineering support within the AV/IT industry.
- AVIXA CTS-D certification required;
- must obtain CompTIA Network+ certification within a year.
- BICSI RCDD certification preferred.
- Proficient in Windows and Apple software; advanced experience with CAD.
- Strong proficiency in producing drawings and requirement documentation for architectural design packages.
- Advanced knowledge of Audiovisual (AV) and Information Technology (IT) system testing and commissioning.
- Excellent multitasking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and National Electric Code (NEC).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the project team to identify, qualify, and secure new design-build and support projects.
- Lead needs analysis and interpret customer requirements for the team.
- Prepare cost estimates, develop drawings, and assist with creating budget estimates.
- Conduct value engineering exercises to align system performance with client budgets.
- Develop and deliver product demonstrations or Proof of Concepts.
- Provide design and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead job completion efforts to obtain Final Acceptance approval from clients.
- Mentor and provide guidance to engineering staff and new hires.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and attend necessary safety and coordination meetings.
