Job Description
Overview:
Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Temporary Design Coordinator to join the Runway design team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate the establishment and upkeep of fabric and design boards, ensuring easy accessibility for the design team.
- Conduct swatching for fabric, lining, and trim selections within the midtown area to facilitate the design team's material selection process.
- Oversee the logistics of sample pickup and delivery to production facilities, a critical task in ensuring design concepts are realized accurately.
- Systematically maintain the fit room, ensuring it is well-stocked and impeccably organized to support seamless garment fittings and design adjustments.
- Assist in the preparation of cut tickets by gathering necessary information to ensure comprehensive instruction.
- Execute basic sewing tasks, such as attaching buttons, minor garment repairs, alterations, or prototyping, contributing to the practical aspects of the fashion design process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Background in Fashion Design is preferred
- Preference for candidates with experience in sample rooms and design ateliers is preferred.
SALARY & BENEFITS/WHAT WE OFFER:
The compensation for this position ranges from $19-$20 (hourly). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. MJ employees also receive discounts on MJ products throughout the year.
