We’re looking for someone who’s ready to take the lead on our projects and bring their expertise of design thinking, strategy and execution to the table. Job Overview: As an Interior Design Lead , you’ll collaborate with creative leadership on the 30,000-foot design vision, then take full ownership of its execution across a range of residential, commercial, and production projects. This role is perfect for someone who has honed their skills over at least 5 years, loves a good creative challenge to solve, is comfortable working independently, and enjoys leading the creative and practical aspects of design. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the entire design process, managing client interactions, and mentoring junior team members. Key Responsibilities: High-Level Collaboration : Partner with leadership to develop the high-level design concept for each project. You’ll bring your expertise to shape the overall vision and ensure that it’s executed seamlessly. Design Development : Own the design development process, including the selection of materials, finishes, and FF&E. Lead the creation of 2D/3D design plans, layouts, and visualizations, ensuring they align with the overall vision and client objectives. Manage all design documentation to ensure it meets project specifications, budgets, and timelines. Project Coordination & Workflow Management : Manage your own workflows autonomously, while ensuring the team stays aligned with project phases and deadlines. Proactively address any challenges or delays, keeping the project moving forward without micromanagement. Oversee procurement and coordinate with vendors, trade partners, and suppliers to ensure design elements are delivered on time and within budget. Conduct site visits to ensure designs are being implemented according to NW10’s high standards. Client Interaction : Serve as the lead point of contact for clients throughout the design phase, presenting concepts and design revisions clearly and confidently. Tailor design solutions to meet client preferences while maintaining the integrity of the overall vision. Team Collaboration : Work closely with our internal team and external partners to ensure project success, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards. Mentor junior designers, drafters, etc. fostering their professional growth and helping them enhance their creative output. Quality Control : Review design documents for accuracy, ensuring they meet client expectations and align with our design standards. Offer creative solutions to any design challenges, ensuring the seamless integration of those solutions throughout the project. Qualifications: Experience : 5 years of interior design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates leadership in both residential and commercial projects. Proven ability to take ownership of the design process from concept to execution, working autonomously and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Technical Skills : Proficiency in 2D/3D design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape) Strong track record of managing workflows, budgets, and timelines in a fast-paced environment required Leadership & Collaboration : Experience leading design development and mentoring junior designers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture. Ability to work independently while contributing to high-level strategic decisions. Communication : Excellent communication skills for effectively working with clients, team members, and external stakeholders. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. Experience in production or experiential design is highly valued. Additional Information: Travel : Occasional travel to project sites and client/vendor meetings, with all expenses covered. Compensation : Prorated $72 -80k annual salary for the 3-month contract, with potential for full-time engagement based on performance. This role is designed for an interior designer who is ready to step into a more senior position and enjoys balancing creative direction with practical project management.
