Job Description
The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Inc. (“JALC”) is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy. From college students to young stars, from working professionals to celebrated masters, we present quality jazz for an ever-increasing audience in an unprecedented range of activities and a variety of venues. We are dedicated to lifting audiences and bringing people together with substance and with integrity. JALC has created a dynamic platform where our key constituents – jazz artists (beginner to grizzled veteran), fans (casual listeners to advanced scholars), educators (local band leaders to leading artist-educators) and advocates (local community advocates to important national promoters) – can meet, engage, learn, and work towards common objectives.
The Designer will help in the creation and conception of all assets for marketing, sales and communications that will live across multiple platforms and channels. This position will touch every communication channel including but not limited to print advertising, digital advertising, and social media. Candidate must be organized and comfortable working with multiple people in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Creative team to develop and implement concepts and campaigns throughout various promotional, direct mail, video, web, and editorial materials.
- Develop and execute ideas from concept to completion.
- Manage and own a myriad of projects adhering to established brand guidelines.
- Responsible for developing and executing presentations (print and digital), print materials, advertisements, posters, and invitations.
- Meet across departments to discuss project scope, timeline, and present design concepts and final layout.
- Work to extend the overall jazz experience throughout JALC’s venues and on social platforms.
- Follow SOP's and archive printed and digital materials for rapid location and retrieval.
- Complete other relevant duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- A minimum of four years of practical work experience in the field of graphic design
- Strong knowledge of typographic, promotional, and editorial design
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe CC including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere; MS Outlook, MS Office
- Strong knowledge of best practices regarding graphics, photos, and video for social media
- Self-starter personality with strong eye for detail and layout
- Knowledge of four-color printing processes, print production, Pantone color matching system, and file preparation
- Must be able to think creatively, prioritize multiple tasks, and work effectively under pressure within a team environment to meet deadlines
- Excellent graphic design skills and strong presentation skills
- Knowledge and appreciation of the arts and jazz is preferred.
While it is a flexible work environment, it is not a remote work environment. All staff work together as a team, Monday through Friday at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s administrative offices at 3 Columbus Circle and at Frederick P. Rose Hall, The House of Swing.
