Job Title: DesignerJob Description
In this role, you will use your experience to convert system design concepts into specific layouts by interpreting information set forth in the basis of design as well as information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research. Projects will vary but they are particularly focused on processing facilities, including pharmaceutical projects, healthcare, science and technology, higher education, and process industrial/food and beverage sectors. You will be supporting specific aspects of building projects. If you have a passion for certain project types, efforts will be made to align you with those projects; otherwise, you will work on the most pressing needs that best fit your skills.
Responsibilities
Convert system design concepts into specific layouts.
Interpret information from basis of design, user input, project partners, field surveys, and code research.
Work on a variety of projects, including pharmaceutical, healthcare, science and technology, higher education, and process industrial/food and beverage.
Support specific aspects of building projects.
Align project assignments with your skills and passions.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design from an accredited technical institution or college, or commensurate experience.
General or fundamental knowledge in at least one discipline area such as fire protection, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing/piping, electrical, technology, instrumentation and controls, process, or lighting systems.
Ability to interpret design criteria and convert it into specific layouts.
Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements.
Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in computer operation for engineering design programs.
Ability to anticipate design work and delegate tasks appropriately.
Ability to balance work for others and provide constructive feedback.
Familiarity with CAD/REVIT standards and layout standards.
Work Environment
You will report to the Madison, WI office, working under one group such as HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection. You will work on a variety of project types and industries, with the possibility of focusing on a niche area. There is an option to work from home up to three days a week, depending on your experience.
