The Next Stage Project Designer II designs mid-size remodeling projects that present varying levels of complexity and can include architecture and engineering. The Designer II position is gradually exposed to larger, more complex projects, to further develop and refine their design and space planning skills. Project Designer II manages their own projects and workflow, with guidance from senior designers. Project Designer II assists in training and mentoring the team’s junior design staff and sometimes manages and directs their work.

  • Intermediate skillset at drafting in Chief Architect, and creating ID sheets and build sets
  • Hyper attention to all the details (measuring, drafting, reviewing bids, checking the work of others)
  • Ability to interpret and execute a variety of design styles
  • Ability to curate materials and colors palettes that reflect an understanding of design principles

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

Designs mid-size kitchen, bath, whole house, and addition remodels

Collaborates with Project Developer to plan and design custom remodeling projects for upscale homeowners

Measures, photographs, and drafts existing spaces

Develops concepts specific to clients’ budgets and goals, guides clients thru the planning and design process resulting in a construction contract

Performs all drafting for projects, including construction permit sets and build sets

Specify and source all materials, obtain and approve bids, manage all design documentation for contract signings

Communicates and coordinates between design, sales, and production departments, as well as with trade partners

EDUCATION

Degree in interior design or equivalent work experience

3 - 6 years’ experience in residential design, residential remodeling preferred

At least one industry certification (NARI, NKBA, CID, etc.)
