Compensation: up to $100k (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate will have a background in automotive manufacturing and be proficient in various manufacturing processes and advanced CAD software. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, supply chain, and other business functions to deliver complex engine designs. The Mechanical Designer will leverage expertise in 3D modeling and drafting, contributing to continuous improvement and simplification initiatives across the organization.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate within defined parameters to meet short-term objectives and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
  • Apply engineering and design expertise to solve problems and advance additive manufacturing technology.
  • Lead technical initiatives with ownership, ensuring on-time delivery to customers.
  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies through 2D drawings, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and change co-authoring.
  • Work with engineering and supply chain partners to establish dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances, optimizing manufacturability.
  • Ensure interfaces between components are agreed upon by design teams of mating parts and engine systems.
  • Maintain and support model updates within engine assemblies.
  • Stay current with industry developments and continuously challenge self and team skills.
  • Adhere to special security requirements for government secured programs.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently to meet program cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Participate in team and business goals focused on continuous improvement and simplification.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:


  • Associate's degree in a drafting-related field from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design preferred (not required)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a product definition or CAD role.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y145).


Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in designing and developing electric machines with advanced CAD software.
  • Expertise in 3D modeling, model meshing, and analysis.
  • Experience with Siemens NX/Teamcenter and 3D Printing software like EOSPRINT and Concept Laser WRX.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, and forging.
  • Proficiency in surfacing and sheet metal processes.


Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong follow-through and self-starting nature.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, set and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with DMLM printing machines.
  • Experience with NX Surfacing/Mechanical routing is a plus.
