General Job Description
IES Residential is seeking someone with entry to mid-level experience for the position of HVAC Designer in the Dallas area. This candidate must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and have exceptional organizational skills. The Designers will utilize company resources to provide residential project cost estimates to the IES Residential HVAC divisions. This is a full-time position that is ideal for the field technician wanting to transition to the office or the recent graduate who is looking for hands on training, exposure to new construction projects, and an opportunity to work with an amazing team!

The HVAC Designer will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of heating and cooling systems in various buildings and facilities.
Responsibilities:
- System Design:
- Develop comprehensive HVAC system designs based on project specifications and requirements using Right Suite universal software.
- Size and select appropriate equipment, including heating and cooling units, ventilation systems, and controls in accordance with ACCA Manual S.
- Conduct load calculations to determine heating and cooling loads for residential homes in a variety of geographies Across the continental United States.
- Code Compliance:
- Ensure that all HVAC designs comply with local, state, and national building codes and standards.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies.
- Fundamental understanding of the material uses and field applications.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with builders, engineers, and other project team members to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into overall building designs utilizing AutoCAD and clash detection process.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and other relevant disciplines to ensure system integration.
- Technical Documentation:
- Prepare detailed and accurate technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Create and maintain project documentation, including design calculations and equipment schedules.
- Energy Efficiency:
- Implement energy-efficient solutions and sustainable practices in HVAC system designs.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance system performance and energy efficiency.
- Assist in Target volumes for Duct testing in designs
- Project Management:
- Assist in project bidding and execution ensuring timely completion of HVAC design deliverables.
- Collaborate with project managers to address design-related issues and provide technical support during construction phases.
- Basic understanding of plans, specifications, take-offs, and other design elements to identify scope of work to be bid.
- Perform takeoffs of materials, equipment, and labor using estimating software
- Prepare project proposals as directed
- Maintain, monitor, and update bid templates in estimating software as directed
