We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our rapidly growing team. This role involves scheduling the completion of drawings according to customer contracts, collaborating with various departments to ensure smooth transitions from design to production, and maintaining high standards for drawing and documentation practices. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leadership and strategic planning, with the opportunity to grow within the company and build a team.
Responsibilities
Schedule the completion of drawings per commitment to customer’s contract or purchase order.
Communicate with customers and engineering firms to gain approval of general arrangement design.
Collaborate with the operations department to transfer engineering packages to production planning personnel.
Develop and implement new standards and procedures to increase turnaround of engineering packages for customer approval and manufacturing.
Utilize current knowledge of Solidworks design/drafting program to improve performance in areas such as standards, increased throughput, and incorporation of data.
Meet weekly with management to report on project schedules.
Communicate with customer’s management and/or installation companies on issues of equipment operation, proper installation, and maintenance.
Maintain the center of excellence for all drawing and documentation practices and services, including project analysis and report generation for existing applications.
Collaborate with internal and corporate resources to establish and maintain design and drawing standards.
Essential Skills
2-3 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Mechanical Engineering Degree.
Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills.
Working knowledge of Solidworks design tools and programs, Driveworks, and PDM.
Strong sense of time management and prioritization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Design control management.
Experience calculating structural loads and equipment support.
Working knowledge of Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers.
Software implementation and process design.
Work Environment
