Job location: Charlotte, NC 28208
Work Setting: Hybrid - Full Time - Mon - Fri
Travel: 10% - most travel is international.
Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000
Additional Compensation: 401k match up to 6%, profit sharing, OT eligible, tuition reimbursement, long-term incentive plans

Education / Certifications:Associate degree in civil and/or mechanical discipline, or a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a technical environment.
Required Experience:
- Advanced computer skills including use of Microsoft and Autodesk products.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software.
- Excellent technical writing and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet schedule and delivery deadlines.
Preferred Experience:
- Proficient in 3D modeling design software and techniques.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and developing lists for engineering.
- Ability to understand P&IDs for use in piping design and drawing checking.
- International travel experience.
- Industrial plant experience.
Position Summary:The Mechanical Designer requires providing conceptual and detailed design of systems & components used during project execution of industrial plant design.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Designer does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Utilize CAD software to create mechanical drawings for the basic and detailed engineering of a Midrex plant.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software and related Autodesk products.
- Take conceptual designs, sketches, and ideas from engineers and senior designers to develop the details necessary for a complete, engineered drawing capable of being used for purchasing, erection in the field, design analysis, etc.
- Layout of plant equipment, piping, and utility systems.
- Travel to job sites to perform analyses of existing equipment, piping routes, layouts, etc. for use in developing future, proposals, etc.
- Travel to fabrication facilities to perform mechanical inspections of equipment and adherence to designs and tolerances.
- Travel on business trips and/or field assignments as required to carry out departmental tasks and functions.
- Perform checking of mechanical drawings for consistency with conceptual ideas, design, sketches, etc.
- Assist senior designers and engineers by suggesting design changes that might improve the desired results of the design.
- Work as a teammate with all company departments and employees in all assignments. Work toward building consensus on all assignments by finding solutions which meet the best interests of all parties involved.
