MI Technical Solutions seeks qualified candidates to fill an immediate opening for an experienced CAD Designer. This individual will provide CAD design support for shipboard and shore installation projects. This position supports multiple programs and projects within the organization and is responsible for maintaining configuration and change management of all company and contract related drawing packages.
Responsibilities:
- Create and edit various types of drawing packages, including:
- Navy Installation Design Plans (IDP)
- Navy Installation Requirements Documents (IRD)
- NAVSEA Installation Control Drawings (ICD)
- Technical Data Packages
- Fabrication drawings
- Work closely with project managers and engineers to design and create detailed cabling block drawings, floor plans, rack elevations, cable routing layouts, power requirements and other important data for drawing packages.
- Provide schedule estimates for package completions
- Provide 30/60/90% progress reports
- Host and attend project design reviews
- Provide system, unit and component design recommendations
- Review “Red-line” drawings and update as necessary to complete As-builts.
Job Requirements:
Mandatory:
- Must be a US citizen
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must have an active Secret clearance
- Six (6) years of hands-on experience with specific relevant CAD design supporting US Navy shipboard and/or shore installation projects.
- Knowledge of drafting standards
- Demonstrable AutoCad experience in 2D drawings
- Must have valid driver’s license with ability to provide driving record upon request
Preferred:
- Knowledge and experience with NAVSEA GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR OVERHAUL OF SURFACE SHIPS (GSO)
- Knowledge and experience with shore installation design plans related to the NIWC shore installation process handbook (SIPH)
- Demonstrable AutoCad experience in 3D drawings
- Demonstrable Autodesk experience with product lifecycle management (PLM)
- Experience with shipboard or other platform shock and vibration and stress analysis
- Ability to research useful components in designs
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word
