The Senior Interior Designer is a member of the leadership team within SCB’s integrated Campus Environments Studio and will work collaboratively with architects, designers, and planners to design and deliver projects that support student success. An ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for design and knowledge of the issues and trends shaping the higher education sector today. The Senior Interior Designer will facilitate innovative, progressive, and thoughtful design solutions that demonstrate excellence in performance, craft, and beauty that are delivered within budget and on schedule. They will lead multiple teams and will be directly responsible for fulfilling project goals, delivering exceptional client service, meeting budgets and schedules, and assuring the overall quality of SCB projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for project design development of multiple projects working under minimal supervision of a sector Principal and applicable Senior Leadership.
Exhibit a thorough working knowledge of innovative interior architectural finishes, including familiarity with manufacturers and performance standards to meet our Client’s expectations.
Thorough understanding of the FF&E selection, specification, and procurement process from concept through execution. The senior designer will lead the effort in organizing the selection including the bidding process.
Lead the team through all phases of interior design work including space planning, color and material selection, FF&E selection and specification, schematic design, design development, construction documents and contract administration.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the capability to influence design outcomes.
Acute attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility.
Ability to take charge and respectfully direct younger staff at all project stages.
9-12 years of professional design experience.
Strong portfolio of Higher Education experience preferred.
NCIDQ Certificate Holder, Registered Interior Designer or Licensed Architect preferred.
LEED and/or WELL certification preferred.
Proficient in 3D digital modeling and graphics software such as Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Grasshopper, 3ds Max, Enscape, Adobe / Affinity Creative Suites.
