Job Description
We're hiring a Sr. Piping Designer for a project in Bishop, TX. This is a field position, the designer will be working on site inside a downstream facility in support of capitol project installation. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a refining facility in a fast-paced environment. The designer must be able to assist the project manager and work with the construction group in maintaining documentation including: As-Built Piping ISO’s/redlines, updates to piping/facility model, assist with development and resolution to RFI’s . You will be working collaboratively with the site planners and management to deliver documentation that adheres to UPS Industrial Standards and client expectations. The designer must be proficient with AutoCad/CADWorx and experienced in working with laser scan data (point cloud).
This position is scheduled to work 4-10's with per diem paid 7 days. Time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are included.
Responsibilities include:
- Updating/modifying piping layouts and 3D models for piping systems, updates to P&ID’s, utilize pipe specs, for modifications to piping isometrics.
- Gather required field information to develop field sketches. Fieldwork is performed at the plant and will require some climbing and walking.
- Will need to work at a pace to meet project schedules/budgets but also ensure quality is maintained.
- Assist design team in developing drawing deliverable packages that will be submitted to the client.
- Assist onsite team with developing scopes of work for modifications to the existing system.
Minimum requirements:
- 10+ years of experience as a piping designer (extensive time working in the field at a plant preferred).
- Associate’s degree in Drafting or Design preferred, but not required. Minimum of a high school Diploma is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCad and CADWorx.
- Experience working with laser scan data (point cloud).
- Strong drafting ability and project organizational skills.
- Experience with piping design drawings and documents (piping plans, sections, details, isometrics, P&ID’s, piping specifications etc.)
- Attention to detail is a must to ensure high quality is maintained.
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
- TWIC and basic plus are required for this facility.
