RUDIS is seeking an experienced creative and dynamic individual to join our team as the Lead Designer for Apparel. This role manages the design team and processes from initial concepts to final samples. The Lead Designer will work collaboratively with cross-functional leaders in Brand, Project Management and Development to execute the successful implementation of products that drive innovation and uniqueness, strengthen brand market position, and deliver on time and at cost. This role reports to the Director of Apparel and is the primary owner of apparel design with direct reports within the design department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
DESIGN- Conceptualize and design RUDIS apparel initiatives by precisely translating product briefs and direction into designs that meet functional, cost and aesthetic objectives. Expected to have strong working knowledge of performance athletic apparel design and experience working within multiple creative structures. Possess an expert level of understanding of material and fabric technologies such as formulation, durability, comfort factors and sustainability. An understanding of company direction and how design supports the brand and business. Provide focused, feasible, commercial and innovative apparel concepts that are appropriate for the RUDIS brand in a timely manner. Use creative problem-solving skills to communicate and assist product development teams to properly execute design intention. Deliver visual and physical representation that convey and support design concepts during key calendar milestone meetings. Work with Elite athletes to capture performance needs and interpret their creative direction and inspiration.
TREND & VISION- Continually expand knowledge of consumer and market trends to insure concept feasibility. Research extends to application and use of traditional and new materials, components and constructions when applicable. Responsible for continually driving apparel aesthetic vision that aligns with brand direction and core values. Travel required for market insights and consumer emersion as well as manufacturing locations, development centers and vendors to oversee the execution of design solutions. Inspirational trips to trade shows and locations necessary for keeping current with future trends and product needs.
PROCESS- Manage design process and team through seasonal calendar and deliverables. Fulfill product and milestone objectives timely and efficiently. Work collaboratively with brand and marketing to deliver required products during identified go-to-market moments. Provide tech drawings and details when required to support product development needs throughout the product creation lifecycle. Assist in problem solving for a variety of circumstances including; fit, materials, sourcing and development with clear and direct communication skills written, spoken and visually.
INNOVATION- Expected to drive innovation through curiosity, imagination and ideation in collaboration with brand, product management and athlete feedback. Responsible for generating proprietary and unique 2D expressions and concepts that can be activated as viable market leading products. Utilize industry, trend and end-user experiences to push the boundaries of traditional product design. Maintain an open mind while exploring new ways to solve for old problems. Maintain an ongoing knowledge of technical advancements in materials and construction methods that are on the horizon of development.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design or related degree/experience
-7-10 year's experience within sports industry in apparel or product design
-First hand working knowledge of athletic performance apparel design with exposure to technical design process
-Strong technical understanding of pattern, fit, and materials engineering
-Knowledgeable in sourcing, commercialization and manufacturing processes
-Excellent organizational skills, with high level visual and verbal communication abilities
