Position Summary:

The Senior Designer coordinates the development of design and presentation documents, with an emphasis on helping the team document the design goals for each project. Designers are expected to formulate designs that are conducive to the project’s intended purposes and scale and in keeping with the Studio design process/approach. Senior Designer also provides the project team with recommendations, which requires independent judgment and evaluation (e.g. choice materials, colors, fixtures, etc.) All Senior Designers are expected to identify and help solve problems encountered independently, or with guidance from senior team members for more complex issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Use hand sketching, graphic design software and 3D modeling tools to produce design exhibits, such as renderings, presentation packages, and vignettes to convey design goals at various stages of the project schedule.
  • Oversee the implementation and facilitate understanding of design and graphic standards with designers.
  • Coordinate research efforts as needed in support of design goals.
  • Provide verbal presentations of design progress and written narratives.
  • Coordinates and executes routine discipline tasks including diagramming, modeling, detailing, and drafting.
  • Understand and use current company CAD/Revit standards and procedures in the production of design and design development drawings and exhibits and help teach these standards to Designers and Interns.
  • Facilitate design coordination processes between RDC-S111 and clients, governmental agencies, tenants, and consultants.
  • Complete timesheets promptly and accurately daily, with minimum timely submission every Friday close of business, and every payroll cycle cutoff.
  • Adhere to the policies of the company’s Employee Manual.
  • Formulate concepts for each design
  • Have open communication with job captains to assure the vision of each design is properly executed in the documentation process
  • Determine which deliverables such as diagrams, illustrative, enlargement plans etc. will help to convey our design to client and produce or delegate accordingly

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in landscape architectural practice with focus on conceptual design and design development preferred.
  • Knowledge of landscape architectural design, development, and construction documents and understanding the differences in level of detail and design at project milestones.
  • Understanding of landscape architectural design, site planning, design development and graphic presentation.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and AutoCAD/Revit (latest version) and other graphic and business software and their application in developing and presenting design documents.
  • Effective English communication skills, conversational and written, for ongoing project collaboration, documentation, and marketing (blogs, design narratives)
