SECU is seeking a Learning Experience Designer. This is a remote position; however, candidates should live within the DMV area and be able to come to the Linthicum, MD office at least one time per month.

The Learning Experience Designer (LED) is responsible for the design, development and deployment of blended training programs. They will collaborate with the VP, Learning & Organizational Development, learning consultants, subject matter experts, key stakeholders, and technical trainers to create and update course materials and performance support tools. The LED will also design learning solutions utilizing multiple delivery / distribution channels, such as Instructor-Led Training (ILT), e-learning, micro-learning, video, webinars and more, following an Agile or ADDIE design model. The LED will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video and audio to communicate and educate SECU employees, members, internal customers, and other stakeholders. In addition, the LED will support the launch of curriculum through the LMS, including assignment and tracking completion.

The LED adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.

A day in your life might include:

  • Design, develop, and assist with the deployment and evaluation of all training materials across multiple delivery channels.
  • Manage meaningful program evaluation and develop recommendations and action plans to address performance gaps and program deficiencies.
  • Maintain, update, and recommend changes to existing training related materials.
  • Meet with internal stakeholders to streamline and enhance training materials across all delivery channels.
  • Serve as the department representative on organization-wide business initiatives making recommendations for upskilling and reskilling our employees, creating support materials, and advocating for the frontline experience.
  • Design and develop interactive and engaging online courses using rapid development tools (Articulate 360 Suite, Camtasia, PowToon), assessments, simulations, videos and other learning assets.
  • Support the curation of external sourced content and materials
  • Assist with LMS administration and reporting
  • Perform basic graphic design using tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

What we need from you:

  • B.A./B.S. degree in instructional design, education, or other communications related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Preferred 3+ years of Financial Services, Banking, Credit Union, or Finance company experience.
  • 5-7+ years of demonstrated experience in adult education, instructional design, and development
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) required
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) preferred
  • Takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, failures and overall deliverables
  • Utilizes oral and written communication to enhance relationships across the organization
  • Clearly communicates information, thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise and organized manner
  • Relates comfortably with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography
  • Possesses a clear understanding of strengths, limitations, emotions, beliefs, and motivations of self and others
  • Maintains composure and effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment
  • Adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Outline and create a proof of concept for a course or curriculum, defining (needs for) the course medium, content delivery, assessments, accompanying materials, and complementary learning approaches.
  • Quickly synthesize and write course content based on input from subject matter experts, written material, previous training courses, interviews, etc
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills with outstanding grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading/editing abilities
  • Broad business understanding, strong analytical capabilities and critical thinker
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on details
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with all staff
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (Windows 2000 and higher).

Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. Please Note, we typically hire around the mid-point of the salary range, which is $115,200.

  • Salary: Min. $88,500 - $141,700
