Position Summary
The Senior Instructional Designer will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing impactful learning solutions that align with the company's strategic goals. This position involves not only creating high-quality training programs but also contributing to the strategic direction of the learning and development function. The ideal candidate will have a background in instructional design, experience with e-learning tools like Articulate and Storyline, and a strong grasp of adult learning principles, as well as a knack for driving initiatives that elevate company-wide training standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Design and Development: Lead the design and development of e-learning courses, instructor-led training (ILT), and blended learning solutions. Ensure that content is engaging, interactive, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Strategic Learning Initiatives: Collaborate with the Learning & Development Manager to identify training needs across the organization and develop strategic solutions that address skill gaps, promote employee development, and drive performance improvements.
- Collaboration with SMEs: Partner with subject matter experts across various departments to translate technical and complex information into accessible, effective learning experiences that support both technical and professional growth.
- Content Authoring: Use e-learning authoring tools, particularly Articulate and Storyline, to create and deliver high-impact training modules. Leverage multimedia and visual design principles to enhance learning engagement.
- Continuous Improvement: Gather and analyze feedback, assessments, and other data to measure training effectiveness and make ongoing improvements. Recommend new learning technologies and approaches that can elevate our training programs.
- Learning Technology Leadership: Provide expertise in the utilization of our Learning Management System (LMS), support course administration, and recommend enhancements to improve the learner experience and streamline training delivery.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in instructional design, ideally in a corporate or AEC setting, with a track record of leading and executing strategic learning projects.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in e-learning software, especially Articulate and Storyline. Familiarity with other design and multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is an advantage.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively across departments and levels.
- Ability to think strategically and translate organizational learning needs into practical, effective learning programs.
- In-depth understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, and innovative e-learning techniques.
