Job Description
The Daily Dot seeks a dynamic Culture Editor to join our editorial team. This role requires a finger on the pulse of trending stories and an expert understanding of entertainment, pop culture, and internet culture. The ideal candidate will have a knack for turning around high-quality, engaging content quickly in response to the latest trends and breaking news.
As our Culture Editor, you will spearhead the development and refinement of content that intersects with the latest in entertainment, pop culture, and digital trends. You'll ensure that our content is not only timely but resonates deeply with our audience, maintaining high engagement through quick-turnaround stories and features.
This is a full-time, fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. This role will require hiring and managing a talented team of freelancers. Your role will involve coordinating with these contributors to ensure our content remains on the cutting edge of cultural trends, overseeing their projects from inception to publication.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and identify trending topics across various platforms to develop timely and relevant content.
- Edit and curate stories with a focus on entertainment, pop culture, and internet culture.
- Work closely with writers and contributors to craft compelling narratives that engage and grow our audience.
- Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in style, quality, and voice.
- Innovate and present new ideas to expand content reach and engagement across platforms.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in digital journalism or a related field.
- Strong background in entertainment, pop culture, and internet culture.
- Excellent editorial skills with the ability to turn around high-quality content quickly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
