Associate Editor Job at America's Test Kitchen in Boston
America's Test Kitchen, Boston, MA, US
Job Description
The cookbook team is seeking an experienced recipe developer to join our team. While the title for this position is Associate Editor, most of your day-to-day work will be accomplished in our test kitchen. Success in this role requires you to be a team player, detail oriented, precise, a careful planner, and capable of managing multiple projects with firm deadlines across several departments.
Responsibilities include:
- Spend time researching recipes, cookbook concepts, and relevant food interests to inform your recipe development, your writing, and to inspire the larger team.
- Come up with creative, delicious recipe ideas that also fit within the framework of your assigned projects. This requires the ability to thrive within constraints, think outside the box, and have a “yes, and” approach to development.
- Be an active participant in your peer’s development by contributing constructive feedback during tastings and brainstorm sessions, and receive feedback in an open-minded way.
- Work independently to plan your weekly and daily testing strategy and optimize your kitchen time while respecting other department’s workflows.
- Clearly communicate with editors around timelines and deadlines, and work diligently to submit assigned work on deadline.
- Jump in to support team members whenever the need arises, whether that’s through prep or development support.
- Write short-form essays to accompany recipe development, with further writing projects assigned as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Competent with both savory and sweet cooking methods.
- Preferred 3+ years professional cooking and/or recipe development experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
This position is site-based. America’s Test Kitchen is located in the Seaport district in Boston, MA. Our organization follows a hybrid work schedule and this position requires a flexible schedule based on business needs.
