Summary function: Edits and works with the Managing Attorney Editor in the development, organization, and marketing of legal publications.
Required minimum education: Juris Doctorate and Florida Bar membership.
Required minimum professional work experience: One (1) year of legal experience as an attorney and two (2) years of experience in writing, editing, legal research or related field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews chapters submitted by authors. Researches to ensure legal and substantive accuracy and edits for grammar and style. Writes original material as needed in cooperation with the authors and Managing Attorney Editor. Reviews final proofs of books. Works with non-attorney associate editors to ensure legal accuracy and quality in publications assigned to associates.
Develops and organizes new editions and supplements of publications. Recruits and coordinates activities of authors and steering committee members for books assigned to this position. Assists Managing Attorney Editor on new product development by evaluating subject matter for market success, developing outlines for chosen titles, and recruiting authors. Prepares and maintains lists of complimentary copies of books for authors and steering committee members.
Reviews case law, legislative material, rules, and other publications to remain current on subjects covered in manuals.
Communicates marketing points to Lexis Nexis marketing team. Assists in preparing promotional material, and possibly traveling to and participating in marketing for publications at Bar meetings and other events.
Assists Florida Bar members with questions related to publications. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Legal research techniques
- Databases (i.e., Lotus Notes, Microsoft, LexisNexis)
- Adobe Acrobat
- The Rules Regulating The Florida Bar
- Florida Rules of Court Procedure
Skilled in:
- Proper English spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Excellent legal and analytical communication, both oral and written
- Effective collaboration with authors and steering committees
- MS Word, Excel and internet research
- Proofreading
- Adobe Professional
Ability to:
- Interpret policies and procedures
- Think logically and solve problems
- Create ADA compliant forms and documents using Adobe
- Organize work and determine priorities
- Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships

- Occasionally travel including weekend
- To sit for long periods of time, hear and converse over the telephone, and key/work frequently on a computer
