Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Editor to oversee our evening content and supervise our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to delivering unbiased, factual news and possess a deep understanding of the current news ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Story Assignment: Identify and assign stories that align with SAN’s brand promise of delivering unbiased, straight facts.
  • Content Review: Review and approve scripts, headlines, and videos to ensure accuracy and adherence to editorial standards.
  • Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in global geopolitical policy and US politics.
  • AP-Style Proficiency: Maintain a high-level understanding of AP-style and broadcast terminology.
  • Digital News Background: Leverage a background in digital news to enhance content quality and engagement.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor the evening editorial team, ensuring prompt responses and effective management of multiple workstreams.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar editorial role.
  • Strong knowledge of global geopolitical policy and US politics.
  • Familiarity with AP-style and broadcast terminology.
  • Background in digital news is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to unbiased reporting and journalistic integrity.
  • Preferred location Omaha, NE.
