What does the Director of Public Relations and Content Strategy do? The Public Relations and Content Strategy Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategic external communication initiatives to enhance the organization's public image and engage stakeholders. The director plays a crucial role in crafting compelling content, managing media relations and social media strategies, and promoting the organization's mission of providing exceptional cancer care. This position requires a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly in the field of oncology. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to promote the organization's brand, services, and accomplishments. Create and manage a cross-platform content strategy - collaborating with the marketing and communications team - that aligns with the organization's goals and effectively engages key audiences. Manage the organization's social media efforts, amplifying impactful stories of key stakeholders - patients, physicians and team members. Manage direct reports, as well as external agencies and vendors. Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage and raise awareness of the organization's initiatives. Serve as the organization's media contact, handling media inquiries, interviews, and media events. Write and edit press releases, articles, blog posts, and other content materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, clinical, and administrative staff, to identify and develop compelling stories and content related to cancer research, patient success stories, and community initiatives. Monitor media coverage and public opinion to identify potential issues and develop proactive strategies to manage and mitigate risks. Develop and implement crisis communication plans to ensure effective and timely response in case of emergencies or negative incidents. Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in public relations and content strategy to continuously improve the organization's communication efforts. Measure and report on the effectiveness of public relations and content strategy initiatives using key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics tools.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for will have the following background and experience: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Minimium of fifteen (15) years experience in public relations, content strategy, social media or a similar role Previous experience in managing a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for various audiences. Strong media relations skills, with a track record of securing positive media coverage and building relationships with journalists. Experience in crisis communication and managing sensitive issues. Knowledge of digital marketing platforms, social media, and content management systems. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
