Channel Strategist
Position Overview:
The role of the Channel Strategist is to support development and implementation of strategic media solutions that meet Client’s goals, while managing all day-to-day media plan stewardship. You will be a key contributor to the overall strategic plan development and activation by building their understanding of BUNTIN’s media process, systems, and tools and build/strengthen core relationships with both Clients and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
INDUSTRY RELATED
- Solidify media planning knowledge (channel strengths and weakness, emerging strategies, etc.)
- Stay current on industry news and evolving media trends
- CLIENT FOCUSED
- Working with Brand (Account) Team counterparts, understand and manage Client’s day-to-day business and goals. Establish oneself as an extension of the Agency and Client’s marketing team.
- Develop understanding of all Client’s products/services, marketing goals and objectives, media requirements, target consumer and budgets
- Build strong relationships with Clients and partner agencies at an appropriate level
- Manage plan revisions, ad hoc requests
- Attend and participate in client meetings at an appropriate level
- PLAN DEVELOPMENT
- Day-to-day development of sound, strategic media plans, based on client marketing direction, guidance/input from manager and understanding of media principles.
- Collaborate with manager to build knowledge of which media research and analytic tools are most effective given the project needs.
Use syndicated planning resources, such as MRI/Simmons, Vivvix/MediaRadar, Claritas, and systems such as MediaTools.
- Understand the brand’s target audience in terms of marketing, media planning and buying.
- Work with manager on development and presentation of planning decks. Ensure inclusion of media planning principles (e.g., reach, frequency, efficiency, and KPI measures)
- Develop and present competitive presentations in conjunction with Brand (Account) Team as needed
- Work with activation teams to obtain planning inputs such as costs, avails, media weights, etc.
PLAN IMPLEMENTATION
- Develop and issue buy authorizations and buying guidelines to the activation teams.
- Certify that campaigns have been built out, insertion orders have been issued & vendor confirmed for all channels, and that creative materials are being issued in the proper timeline.
- Ensure all goals are accurately entered in Prisma/OX and estimates are being tracked.
- Review completed schedules; write Client buy recaps and posts.
- Ensure all media package contracts/IOs are in house.
- PLAN STEWARDSHIP: In coordination with activation team
- Manage the flow of any plan changes/revisions based on altered marketing direction from Client, including ensuring revisions are clearly labeled and outlined.
- Campaign performance:
- Review and issue to Client schedules, buy recaps and post reports.
- Ensure media campaign adjustments are updated in Prisma/OX and revised IOs are pushed to digital partners.
- Financial:
- Ensure that all necessary media authorizations are in house and tracked.
- Review billing materials within Client schedule.
- Traffic:
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of traffic flow and advise on any specific traffic challenges.

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Background:
- 2-4 years media planning experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Experience using Mediaocean a plus! (Prisma/OX)
- Knowledge of fundamentals associated with cross-channel planning (TV, Cable, Digital, Video, Audio, Social, Print, Direct Mail)
- Solid understanding of media math, terminology
- Proficiency with basic analytical tools (MRI/Simmons, R/Fs, etc.)
- Familiarity with MediaTools
- Client relationship management experience (preferred)
- Experience developing plan presentations.
