Summary:
Responsible for serving as a technical specialist to develop, plan and manage program services for various range of planning projects. Matrix is involved in a range of community planning projects including, compatibility, land use, multi-modal transportation, urban design, land development, zoning, sustainability, open space, parks and recreation, housing, redevelopment, military compatibility planning, strategic planning, and public engagement.
Essential Functions:
- Organized, prompt and thorough approach to all responsibilities
- Project management assistance for small to mid-size projects to include budgeting, scheduling, prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and deadlines
- Prepare and present proposals to potential clients or assist with their development
- Work in a collaborative, team environment toward successful project products and outcomes.
- Execute planning activities for a diverse clientele including: Local, State, Military, Federal, Private sector/developers
- Meet with clients and their representatives as an individual or part of a team to explain details, resolve issues, answer questions and maintain good relations
Competencies:
- Superior technical planning writing skills
- Knowledge of community planning concepts, theories and practices
- Research and analyze a variety of statistical and demographic data from federal, state, local, and other sources
- Prepare technical written summaries, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and maps on a range of community planning topics
- Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined planning problems
- Capacity to integrate multidisciplinary project approach with planners, engineers, architects, and environmental scientists
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines
- Ability to travel is required
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited program in Urban or Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in in the field of Community Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Community Development or Military Planning
- Familiar with military compatibility planning, redevelopment planning, land use planning, community facilitation, military facilities planning and military programming
- Experience using GIS application to analyze and communicate land use trends and issues a plus
- Familiarity with Sketch Up or similar program, AutoCAD, or InDesign a plus
- Business development and marketing a plus
- Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR
