Overview:

This position will oversee all aspects of Event Planning for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) and Special Events (Social) that take place at Suncadia as booked by the Hospitality Team and as needed, secured by Communities, Real Estate, and Marketing Divisions. They will train and motivate staff to exceed goals and deliverables. The Director of Event Planning will always conduct their-self in a professional manner with a demeanor that supports the purpose and values (supporting behaviors) at Suncadia.

The Director of Event Planning shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal/external guests and Team Members at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Suncadia Values as well as promoting Suncadia as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

Annual Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000

Responsibilities:
  • Interview, hire, and coach employees
  • Create budget for MICE and Special Events
  • Responsible for achieving revenue and profit in assigned areas
  • Create and implement enhanced SOPs to elevate return on investment
  • Engage with clients to plan and fulfill contractual agreements before, during and post event
  • Assist Planning Managers and create a proper environment for guests and employees
  • Seek new approaches to grow business and increase guests satisfaction
  • Conduct departmental meetings as outlined by division head
  • Meet and strive to exceed all established service standards
  • Plan contracted future events with clients
  • Confirm details in person, via phone and written correspondence to clients in a timely manner
  • Compile and distribute information for internal/external clients according to distribution guidelines
  • Ensure that contract arrangements are being adhered to by both the Resort and by our clients
  • Oversee the ordering and correct billing of special rental equipment needed for events
  • Oversee all ordering and stocking of props and dcor needed for events
  • Ensure that appropriate deposits are in place prior to events realization
  • Ensure the highest guest satisfaction
  • Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Two or four year degree in hospitality management preferred
  • Minimum of 2-year experience as a Director of Event Planning or Director of Conference Services/Catering
    • Preference for Leaders with Resort and/or Hyatt Experience
  • At least five years in a resort or high-end hotel setting preferred
  • Prior Four or Five Diamond experience required
  • Ability to work well with others and function well in fast paced environment;
  • Knowledge of resort operations;
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, institutional supplies and other resort equipment;
  • Computer literate;
  • Knowledge of special events products;
  • Knowledge of F&B controls.
  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit;
  • Must be 21 years of age or older;
  • Current Food Handlers permit or ability to obtain one within 2 weeks of employment;
  • Must have a valid drivers license and meet company driving standards;
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time if necessary;
  • Ability to come into contact with harsh chemicals with proper safety gear;
  • Must be able to personally lift up to 40 lbs on a frequent basis;
  • Must be able to occasionally lift over 40 lbs with assistance;
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces and reach on an occasional basis.
