Label King is hiring: Prepress/Graphics Specialist in San Diego

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyzes incoming graphics for printability, brand color concerns, Pantone® matching, and any other foreseeable printing issues. Documents the issues and possible solutions, and then notifies the appropriate people.

Prepares proofs and print-ready files

Works with the digital press operator(s) on matters involving quality

Follows quality requirements to meet or exceed specifications

Applies trap and color correction to art files, performs color separation, assigns necessary screening, steps art according to press layout, and generates press-ready files for production

Produces color-accurate contract proofs according to customer and press specifications

Shares prepress knowledge and techniques as well as job-specific information with Digital Press Operators

Works with a team to develop procedures and workflows relevant to the prepress area

Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with co-workers, customers, and suppliers

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Potential for marketing/design projects if all other production art is complete

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator required, and at least basic proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Excel

Strong working knowledge of file conversion, color conversion, imposition, and proofing

Excellent understanding of color management

Experience with digital printing

Attention to detail

Communication skills

Knowledge of file transfer systems

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred

At least 2 years in prepress, design, color profiling, or print file preparation role

Experience with digital and/or flexographic printing preferred
