The Sister Helen Sheehan Library at Trinity Washington University located in Washington, D.C. seeks a Part Time Library Associate to become a member of our service-oriented team. The library associate performs work in various units of the library, helping to fulfill the mission of the library, to provide exemplary service to the University. The associate's duties include helping patrons with locally-available library resources, interlibrary services, reserves, and general circulation matters. The Library Associate also provides research assistance to patrons, helping to fulfill the mission to increase student's information literacy skills. The library associate will have supervisory responsibilities, helping with a group effort to supervise and mentor student workers. The Library Associate will report to the University Librarian. Work will be performed mostly independently, with moderate supervision. Performance evaluation will be in accordance with University Policies and Procedures, and conducted through the performance evaluation system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSITBILITIES
The Library Associate supports Librarians and the University Librarian. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Research help: Assisting patrons in the use of library resources and materials, both digital and print.
- Circulation duties: Charging and discharging materials to patron accounts. Or, lending and collecting books, periodicals, videotapes, and other materials at circulation desks using ILS, Alma.
- Checking the Trinity Library email regularly throughout their shift
- Delegating tasks to Student Workers (i.e. library registrations, shelving, etc.)
- Staffing the Reference Desk
- Answer routine patron inquiries including, but not limited to:
- Course reserves
- Media Room scheduling
- Basic computer problems
- Printing issues
- Assisting librarians in maintaining current collections
- Sorting materials based on procedure and classification and reshelving.
- Assisting with various facets of library programming.
- Assist in the preparation of book displays.
- Assisting with student worker training and supervision.
- Use online systems to accept and process requests, locate bibliographic information and maintain statistical records.
- Coordinate the retrieval and delivery of books and journal articles to individuals and to institutions in a timely manner.
- Create access to course materials: interpret and organize course information and use library and reserve management systems to execute circulation functions, create reserve lists, track orders/requests, and solve problems; search full text subscription databases; use PDF conversion software and operate scanners.
- Interact with faculty to clarify information, explain policy, and redress problems.
- Administer library regulations and policies; assist in implementation of new procedures, policies and services.
- Processing new library materials, including books and periodicals, using OCLC, MS Word, and ILS.
- Serves on weekend reference desk rotation.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience working with computerized systems including online databases
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
- Excellent customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform detailed computer work.
- Ability to learn library related computer programs.
- Ability to supervise others.
- Ability to access and use library resources effectively.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
