The Arapahoe Libraries offers families a menu of quality early learning opportunities to prepare our youngest patrons to succeed when they get to school. We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for working with young children (ages 0-5) and their families. We have volunteer opportunities with the following programs:
Family Place Play & Learn Workshops: A play-based program for children ages 1-3 with a caregiver. You will staff the art experience station and help the librarian with set up and cleanup. This program takes place on Friday mornings at area libraries. Commitment is 3 hours from 9 am to noon.
Learning on the Go: A storytime plus enrichment activities for children ages 0-5. You will assist the librarian with registration check-in, patron interactions during the program, setup and cleanup. Commitment is monthly from 9 am - noon. We are particularly looking for volunteers at Eloise May and Smoky Hill libraries.
Little Explorers: A STEAM-based program for children ages 2-5. You will assist the librarian with check-in, set up, cleanup and interact with families at activity stations. The occurrence is monthly at area libraries. Commitments are 3 hours from 9 am - noon or from 1 - 4 pm, typically during the week and weekend opportunities available.
You Have:
- Ability to work with attention to detail.
- Ability in being organized and reliable.
- Ability to work with people from all backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to demonstrate positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively and openly communicate with library staff.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to travel to library location where program takes place.
