Description
Balboa Bay Resort and Balboa Bay Club are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter to join the Marketing Department. Armed with a passion for hospitality, digital marketing experience, and an eye for detail, the Marketing Manager will work directly with the Director of Marketing to support resort-wide and club-wide departmental initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, their audiences, and industry best-practices. Ability to implement social strategy based on departmental and revenue goals; maintain postings; and work with the Director of Marketing and/or outside agency to analyze insights for successes and missed opportunities.
Collaborate with the Director of Marketing on multi-channel digital plans based on revenue and occupancy goals. Responsible for building email marketing campaigns within CRM software, and updating guest communications, while adhering to industry best-practices and brand guidelines. Ability to or interest in learning to analyze successes and strategize opportunities for future growth. Participate in monthly agency calls and support pay-per-click and display marketing goals as needed.
Handle day-to-day website management via CMS software, ensuring all text, imagery, promotions and events, are accurate and up to date. Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and web agency on changes to design and functionality.
Supports the Director of Marketing and Public Relations Agency with reactive and proactive media relations campaigns; press material development; media visits, including reservations and itineraries; FAM trips; and collateral management. Actively and professionally engages with media and influencers during on and off-property events. Shares media news across social channels and maintains press library on the website.
Collaborates and creates provoking visual content that will increase awareness and positive perception of the resort, club, spa, restaurants, and events to maximize revenue and profitability.
Enthusiastically assist and participate in the creation, promotion, and execution of resort and club-wide events. Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, schedule flexibility is required.
Maintain print collateral inventory and work with the Director of Marketing and design agency on collateral needs.
Assist with departmental administrative needs where necessary.
Assists with creating monthly 8-10 Bay Window ads and articles.
Maintains photo library.
Offers Sales department support for collateral, email campaigns, and promotions.
Participates in bi-monthly marketing meetings, Commercial strategy meetings, and Revinate meetings.
Assists with photo shoots.
Maintains Resort app.
Qualifications Three or more years of related hospitality marketing experience. Solid experience using multiple social media platforms to market hotels and respond to guest feedback and with a finger on the pulse of industry trends and best-practices.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, hospitality or related field desired.
Passion for travel, hospitality, and food and beverage industries. A touch of wanderlust and understanding of what makes a memorable guest experience.
Excellent writing and proofreading skills backed with a creative spark.
Thorough understanding and experience managing social media platforms.
Experience and working knowledge of CRM and CMS platforms.
Experience and understanding of Google Analytics, digital advertising statistics, and social media insights.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.
Interest in learning or ability to analyze to data to influence marketing strategies.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Flexible team player with strong work ethic.
Maintains respectful and professional relationship with colleagues, internal and external guests, vendors, and partners, while adhering to Forbes standards.
Three or more years of related hospitality marketing experience.
Knowledge about the culture, attractions and history of the area. Awareness of current events and market competition. Strong local and regional community and business contacts.
Completes all required training as scheduled.
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Must be able to solve problems and remain calm and alert if dealing with a difficult guest, during busy activity periods or in an emergency situation.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts. Position requires working from property location.
Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor.
